I disagree on the borders of this neighborhood. Everything West of Meadow Street and North of Lakeview are most definitely part of Byrd Park.

The Führerbunker of the Confederacy. Shame they didn't fight to the end. At least the Nazi leadership had the courage of the convictions instead of sneaking away in shame.

I am not surprised by the dance hall here. There is a huge half-buried water tank in Milan, Italy that is now used as a dance hall. It was semi-buried to protect it from bombs during wars.

I have had various ventures with several personal injury law firms in the region, and I can assure you, this is the best one. I think most people in Richmond generally regard it as the best as well.
  • Monroe Park, sealbabyclub wrote 15 years ago:
The oldest public space in Richmond, Monroe Park is now completely and utterly filled with the homeless. Advocacy groups feed them in the park and they therefore don't leave. Reminds me of the slogan "Don't feed the bears."
  • Pump House Park, sealbabyclub wrote 15 years ago:
The pump house was the main supply of drinking water to Richmond for over 50 years. The architect also designed the old city hall building. His belief was that any public building should be usable by the public, hence the dance floor level. Many Victorian events occurred in the dance hall through the end of the 19th century. Today you can walk around the building (under slow non-profit renovation) and grounds. A canal is attached that predates the pump house by over a century and a plaque even states that George Washington was there and involved in the commissioning and construction of the canal.
