More recent notable burial includes Thomas Cannon , the "Poor Man's Philanthropist", with a plain white Navy marker in a bare clay field.
As a Postal Clerk he never made more than $15,000.00 per year. Despite this Mr. Cannon often would donate $1000.00 anonymously ( usually through the local richmond newspaper) to persons he would read about in the paper that had come upon some tragedy or difficulty.
A long time resident of Union Hill Mr. Cannon was known in his final years worldwide as an example of selflessness and in his self taped eulogy he made this simple statement..."just help someone..."
